How do I wash my sheets? How to remove stains from tablecloths? Why shouldn't we iron our linen?
How to wash and dry linen bedding
Everyone knows the roots that linen has in the History of Civilization, throughout the centuries, and a glimpse of the multitude of uses that were given to it: pieces of canvas, shearwaters, saddlebags, etc. Even today, when we squeeze it with both hands and bring it close to our face to smell it, to feel it, we perceive that smell, that unmistakable heat that only natural products transmit, products of the earth, and that is part of the essence that we want to transmit to you with our linen at dE.LENZO.
About linen there is a custom of saying: linen wrinkles... I often hear "Linen sheets, linen tablecloth? too much iron" and, precisely, it is quite the opposite.
There are many types of linens, many weights and, above all, many finishes in the factories: resin-coated linens, stone-washed linens, linens washed with special soaps... All this gives it an appearance in the hand, in the store, which later is not the one you will have... Be careful because this when choosing the garment is VERY IMPORTANT. The good linen will be seen after the first wash.
The linen that we use at dE.LENZO for our bedding is a linen treated in the factory, in such a way that, when you wash it properly, it is completely ironed and, the more you use it, the softer it becomes, until the next wash. .

How to wash linen bedding and tablecloths at home?
I have an 8 kilo washing machine and I never put the entire set in the drum. I divide the pieces so that they wash well and are not cluttered in the washing machine. On the one hand, the duvet cover and, on the other, the fitted sheet and pillowcases.
I use a neutral soap without optical brightener. In addition to our No. 13 soap for linen, there are other soaps for colored clothes that do not contain it. In this way, it does not lose color, since this additive whitens the clothes.
As for the softener, if you have used Laundry Soap No. 13, you will not need it and, if you have used others, it depends on what you prefer and, of course, on the water you have at home, since not all of them have the same lime level... Some say that fabric softener ruins clothes, but linen is not ruined by fabric softener, it only softens because it absorbs it wonderfully.
How to dry linen?
One option would be to dry linen clothes in the dryer, which leaves the linen soft and fluffy. Another option would be to hang it in the shade. Do not expose it to the sun because the sun dries out the linen; Spread the sheet or tablecloth as much as you can and, if you don't have enough space on the clothesline, hang it folded as if you were going to store it and turn it over from time to time. In addition, linen is a material that stands out for its ability to dry quickly, more than any other fabric of the same thickness.
Should linen be ironed?
No, linen should not be ironed. If you iron it, you will wrinkle it, you will mark it, you will leave the folds until the next wash, it will lose its natural fall and you will harden it, but if for some reason you need to have your tablecloth or sheet perfectly ironed, do it at the temperature you need and in the Next wash you will have it again in its natural state.
How to remove stains from linen tablecloths and napkins?
Any linen product you have purchased at dE.LENZO can be washed occasionally at 60°C because our linens do not shrink. Only, you won't be able to do it regularly, because like any natural fabric, at such high temperatures, it becomes sad, dull and loses its shine. So we assume: a wine stain on the tablecloth, stain remover stick #3 is essential.
You just have to moisten the bar of soap, rub it against the stain (but vigorously), let it work and wash it in the washing machine at 40°C because it seems to be more difficult by hand, unless you soak it in water. hot 30 minutes. If the first time you do it doesn't work, insist. Linen, with its natural fibers, we could say that it "flakes" and this loss of fiber helps the stains disappear.
And finally, if you need a "disinfectant" cleaning, wash it at 60°C, do not use fabric softener and you will have a fabric with a clean smell, a rough initial feel but a sensation of maximum cleanliness.
Did you know that during COVID times, we were among the first to manufacture approved masks? They were made of 100% linen, with an interior filter, and were washed non-stop at 60°C. If you are reading this post and you are one of those who had one, you will know the feeling of hygiene that linen transmits after washing.
Anyway... and nothing more, here I leave you the link to a video published on Instagram where you will see how I wash the sheets.
